Feedback

It's not very often that an inspector receives feedback, either for good or bad about the work he or she has done.  The following letter was sent to Linda Lockwood, the President of the NICFI (National Institute of Certified Flooring Inspectors), which she kindly shared with us.

Subject: RECENT INSPECTION

Ms. Lockwood-

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how much I have appreciated working with a couple of individuals in your organization, NICFI.

As the General Manager of Tennessee Adhesives, it is important to me that we address any issues or concerns that may arise with our products in a prompt and professional manner.  We take great pride in the quality of our products and strive to have strong relationships with our customers.

It seems that when an issue arises with a floor covering installation, one of the first places people look is to the adhesive.  Thankfully, issues with our products in general have been few.  Truly difficult issues, where we needed an inspection have been extremely rare, but they occasionally arise.

A few years ago, I was confronted with an issue at an installation in a church.  After researching your organization, I contacted Ray Darrah.  He went to the installation and did an excellent job of identifying all the issues.

The cause for the problem turned out to be acclimation and humidity related.  It was Ray's efforts and thorough report, as well as the fact that we had utilized a Certified Inspector that helped us identify the root cause of the installation failure.  His professionalism and your organization's credibility helped us deal with a difficult issue.  It actually helped us improve our relationship with the customer and  Ray was a pleasure to work with.

When I recently received a call on a installation that was over 6 years old and at a distance that made an inspection by someone in our firm difficult, I called Ray and asked for a recommendation on an inspector in that area.  He recommended David Jones.

David inspected the installation and with his thorough and professional efforts, we were able to determine that the pad used was at fault.  It contained materials that made a bond impossible.  We would not have been able to come to this conclusion had it not been for the samples and observations that were included in David's report.  He also was a pleasure to work with.

I just wanted you to know that when a difficult issue comes up, I have come to depend on your organization and it's members for quality and professionalism.

Regards-

Chris Pullins
